Prof. Dr. Yongming Li

Prof. Dr. Yongming Li is a Professor at Shanghai Sport University, Shanghai, China. He earned his PhD from the University of Leipzig, Germany, in 2015, with a doctoral thesis focusing on energetics in canoe sprinting. Previously, he earned a Master's degree from Tsinghua University and a Bachelor's degree from Beijing Sport University. Since 2015, he has been affiliated with Shanghai Sport University, where he has served as Associate Professor and Professor. His research primarily focuses on the energetics of sport and exercise, with an emphasis on applying quantitative and technology-based approaches to enhance athletic performance. Over the past few years, he has played a key role as the Science Director of the Chinese national cross-country skiing team, leading scientific support initiatives for athlete selection, training optimization, and performance monitoring in preparation for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Prof. Li's work integrates physiological, psychological, and biomechanical data through advanced monitoring systems, including satellite positioning, 3D motion capture, accelerometers, and wind tunnel testing. Her research has contributed to evidence-based training strategies, optimization of energy-saving techniques, injury prevention, and year-round winter sports training environments. She has led and participated in numerous Olympic-related sports science research projects, strengthening the translation of sports science research into elite athletic practice.
